Come On, Feel the Illinoise!!

So on a recent trip to Arizona, multiple family members berated me for never updating our blog. My most common response was, "How do you even know that we have a blog?!?" So here I go, I'm updating it with the biggest news since Pearl Harbor. I just got into the University of Illinois School of Medicine! Needless to say, I'm so excited I have a hard time even thinking about it. Common questions that I have been asked include "Is it one of your top choices? Do you have to decide today? Is it in Chicago? When are you going to move? Are you going to wait to hear back from more schools?" And here are the answers: Yes, No, Yes, Most likely late June, and Yes. I will post some pictures from my recent trip there, it seemed like a really nice school. So like good old Sufjan says, "Come on, Feel the Illinoise!"

fun.

So after a very long hiatus, I am making my return to the blogosphere...if only because I cannot figure out how to do post this otherwise. This is my mix tape for the summer, 2 discs worth of material from various indie artists, including Albert Hammond Jr., The Alternate Routes, MGMT, The Honorary Title, Fruit Bats, Maritime, Portugal. The Man, Headlights, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, Vampire Weekend, The Weepies, The Working Title, Blind Pilot, Sherwood, M83, The Black Ghosts, The Killers, and Youth Group. There are at least two songs for every artist, so enjoy!

You made me make a phony phone call to Edward Rooney!!

Spring is finally here, and finals are out! Or rather, school's out for summer! We have this nice blossoming tree right outside our balcony, as evidenced from this picture, and the weather is finally looking up. Aka, hopefully we won't get any more snow storms. Our finals went well, and Beth even got straight A's this semester! In other news, our friends Matt and Sheri are leaving for the summer to get married slash do summer sales, and they had nowhere to put their brand new Samsung 50' plasma screen. And being the amazingly caring and trustworthy friends that we are, we offered to take care of it for the summer, so they wouldn't have to keep it in storage. Very nice. Here's a fitting song for the state of mind that Beth and I find ourselves in at the moment...

Plasticine Porters with Looking Glass Ties

So this last weekend Beth & I went on a little road trip to the good ol' Grand Canyon State. If we were to describe our experience in one sentence, I submit that we had a Beatles-wedding-around the world 2000 until a completely ridiculous hour several nights in a row- bronchitis-house shopping-Frisbee-In-n-Out -fanny pack- shopping-Halo-Dexter-Chain Reaction- Daft Punk-cold Chinese food-Rock Band- Jumping over the fence to scare the crap out of the good for nothing, citrus lobbing neighbors- phases- Indian reservation-bad Jack in the Box- high resolution- upgraded Blazer-Hot Rod... weekend. We had a lot of good times. Shame that Beth got so sick, and that gas costs so freaking much... But it was good to see both of our families. Here are a few songs, just because

Beauty is a Savage Garden

Well it was bound to happen one day, but I don't think that anyone expected it to happen right now, and so suddenly. About a week ago I found out that mine and Beth's favorite band, the Format, has decided to call it quits. Well, the official word from their website says that they are putting the band 'on hiatus,' but I think we all know what that means. That means that one of the most original bands ever won't be doing anything original any more. I really wish I could emphasize how upset this makes me. I guess that only plus right now is that Death Cab For Cutie's new album, Narrow Stairs, will be released this upcoming May... In honor of Sam and Nate, here is the most fitting song of theirs that I could find for this occasion.

Every blog has its first...

Well world, Beth and I decided to make a blog, that way our scores of frenzied fans can have a place where they can see what is happening in our lives. Beth might just say that it's a place where we can post "cute pictures." But I'll let you decide. You decide.
